Runar Vignisson

Rúnar Vignisson is an Icelandic author and translator who has won many honours for his writing, such as the DV Cultural Prize for his short story collection, Love and Other Complications, and The Icelandic Translation Award for for his translation of J. M. Coetzee’s Boyhood. Vignisson has published three collections of short stories and five novels. He has also translated a number of books by acclaimed American, English and Australian authors, such as Philip Roth, Amy Tan, William Faulkner, Ian McEwan and Elizabeth Jolley. He is one of the editors of an international anthology of short stories published in Icelandic. His short stories have been featured in Icelandic, German, Spanish, Argentinian, and American anthologies and his essays have been published in English, Australian and American journals. Vignisson is currently director of the Creative Writing Programme at the University of Iceland.
