Fan Dai is a bilingual writer of Chinese and English. In addition to 4 nonfiction books in Chinese and the novel Butterfly Lovers in English, she has published work in English in magazines in the United States, Australia, and Hong Kong. She is professor of English and founding director of the Sun Yat-sen University Center for English- language Creative Writing. She has been running, since 2015, the Sun Yat-sen University Writers’ Residency, which combines writing with literary and cultural exchanges, and the teaching of creative writing. She holds a PhD in linguistics and an MFA in creative writing.
